quasar energy group maintains multiple pilot scale plants and an analytical laboratory on The Ohio state University Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) campus in Wooster, Ohio. This location, situated between the Akron facility and the Columbus facility, also benefits from the knowledge of the students and faculty studying in the fields of environmental science.

Our pilot scale plant capacity is eight 25 gallon digester. These pilot scale digesters simulate the performance of the commercial facilities. The compact digesters are also used to stress test the contained system to identify potential issues with biomass such as composition and gas-producing performance. Tests done on the substrates determine the levels of active substrate, and composition and volume of gas is measured from each digester.

The analytical laboratory is capable of evaluating biomass, substrates, and gases using a variety of instruments on site. Determination of C, N, VFA/TIC ratios, free ammonia, % total solids and % volatile solids, and other standard measurements are routinely measured for incoming biomass and digester substrates and gases.
